Authorities identified the man killed in a two-vehicle wreck in Athens on Thursday night as Sean Cavender, 36-year-old from Kansas. The accident happened at 9:32 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 31 and G as olden Eagle Drive.
Sean was declared deceased on the scene and the driver of the other car sustained minor injuries. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
Van Buren High School Marching Band shared a post on Fcebook regarding his passing –
“Just received some heartbreaking news. Former VB Band alum & All State trombone player Sean Cavender lost his life in a car accident in Alabama last night. Sean was one of the finest humans you would ever want to meet and an astoundingly talented musician. Sean devoted his adult life to the ministry. Please keep his parents Randy & Brenda Cavender as well as his wife and children in your prayers.”
