Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the man killed in a Sunday-morning crash near Warrior as 33-year-old James Newman Whisenhunt who lived in Warrior. The incident occurred on Sunday in the 8600 block of Rouse Road, close to Warrior. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene after receiving reports of a vehicle on its side in a ditch.
When deputies arrived, they discovered a white SUV that had rolled many times and had come to rest in the ditch, according to Lt. Joni Money. At 3:10 a.m., Whisenhunt was pronounced deceased at the scene. The exact time of the collision has yet to be determined.
Mariah Whisenhunt shared – “How do I form words? How do I live in a world without you? Without your laugh and your love? You were my best friend. I’ve spent 12 years loving you. And loved you until the end of days. You were the life of the party and one of the most loyal and selfless people I know. You were taken way to soon from me and especially from the boys.
My heart breaks at the fact that they have to grow up without you but they will know all about you and who you were I’ll make sure of it. I love you for my whole life James Newman. Thank you for giving me the honor of loving you and being your wife. There is no greater honor that I would’ve had. I love you.”
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident.
