Authorities identified the victim killed in a two-car accident near Livermore as 59-year-old Mitchell Katz. Officials subsequently discovered the victim was the owner of a local vineyard. The incident occurred on East Avenue at Mitra Street around 3:20 p.m. Friday
Mitchell Katz was driving a white GMC SUV when he crossed lanes and collided with a black Subaru, according to police. Katz suffered serious injuries and was brought to a nearby hospital, where he died, according to authorities.
On Saturday night, the Alameda County Coroner’s Office confirmed Katz as the victim. According to police, investigators are awaiting the results of toxicology tests. There were no further injuries reported in the collision.
