Officers in Wausau are investigating a drowning incident after a body was discovered in the Wisconsin River on Tuesday. The shooting occurred in downtown Wausau approximately 5 p.m. on July 25 in the area south of Big Bull Falls Park. Firefighters were called to the region of the Wisconsin River and performed a water rescue, however resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
Officers have identified the victim as Tammy Miller, 55, of Wausau, who went missing after an extensive overnight search in Point Beach State Park. The formal cause of death is unknown, according to authorities, and an autopsy is set for July 26.
It has been determined that there is no indication of foul play, and that Miller may have been affected by alcohol consumption, according to witness accounts and reports that he was swimming in the river. Investigation is ongoing.
