Authorities are investigating after one person is dead and another is in critical condition after Lakeland shooting. The shooting occurred early Saturday morning at the Jade Fox Lounge at 3010 Lakeland Highlands Rd. Raheem Bacon was identified as the deceased victim.
The incident occurred as the party was coming to an end. According to Jian Zhang, the lounge’s owner, city rules require companies that sell alcohol to close by 2 a.m., so the staff turned on the lights at 1:40 a.m. and began encouraging people to leave. However, at that time, a group attempted to enter. When they were denied admittance, a brawl erupted.
Lakeland Police spokeswoman Stephanie Kerr said a 23-year-old female suspect is in custody in the 1:51 a.m. shooting.
Dwayne Bacon, a former FSU star and NBA player, hosted a party on Friday night with Nique as a special guest and discounted Rey Supremo tequila shots. Videos from the event that were supposedly afterwards taken from Facebook by the venue showed that it was a widely attended event with all-white attire.
Our deepest condolences to the Bacon Family.
