The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office are investigating a murder-suicide case in Augusta. The incident happened on Saturday at Diamond Lakes Park. Multiple enforcement officers were dispatched to the area for medical call, where a deceased person discovered inside a car from a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The say deceased was identified as 23-year-old Ceasia Martin. According to the coroner’s office, Martin died around 11:10 a.m. During the inquiry, investigators responded to Martin’s residence in the 2200 block of Walden Drive and discovered a deceased man inside her unit, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deraje Witt, 28, of Augusta, was identified as the deceased male. The coroner’s office says Witt was discovered with one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at 1:00 p.m.
The investigation is still on-going, but the sheriff’s office says the two incidents do appear to be related to each other and investigators are working the two scenes as a Murder/Suicide.
