Gene Rump, KAKE’s former on-air personality has passed away. Gene Rump after a short and sudden illness. The KAKE News broke the news of his death on Facebook on Sunday July 30, 2023. The statement on Facebook reads – “It is with sadness that we report KAKE’s former on-air personality Gene Rump has died. KAKE News will highlight special events from Rump’s life tonight at 5:30.”
Gene’s contributed immensely to local journalism and to the City of Wichita for many years. ” Gene was “The Leader of the Band at 1240 KAKE.” Gene hosted and consulted Mississippi Public Broadcasting national production of “Writers”.
Gene Worked as Subject Matter Expert for military training exercises. Retired and enjoying spending time with family and working on my golf game.
