The Maine State Police Department have identified the two men shot and killed in Lewiston over the weekend. The victim were identified as 30-year-old Mohammed Sheik of Auburn and 23-year-old Keyt Hussein. Just after 10:18 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to Knox Street, where a person had died from a gunshot wound.
According to officials, despite claims that the body was left uncovered for hours, body camera evidence shows otherwise. Police said the corpse was covered 35 minutes after first responders arrived, and that first responders must follow Protocol for Death Investigations.
subsequently, another victim was discovered and transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he subsequently passed away. Authorities have not made it clear whose victim was discovered where.
After being transported to a medical examiner, the deaths of Sheik and Hussein were determined to be homicides.
“I heard about six gunshots,” stated one neighbor. “There was a young man on the ground, as well as blood.” “It was just terrifying seeing him there, and they had him there for like four hours with no cover or anything,” the neighbor added.
