Orlando police said Daton Viel, the man who shot two Orlando officers Friday night has passed away. Officers responded to the area of Garland Avenue and Washington Street around 11 p.m. According to Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith, while investigating a car wanted in connection with a homicide in Miami, a suspect shot two of his officers.
Police are still looking for the suspects as of Saturday morning. A manhunt was launched overnight near the Marden Ridge apartments in Apopka. Another incident involving law police occurred Saturday morning at the Holiday Inn & Suites off Kirkman Road in Orlando.
At the time of writing, the injured officers were still in serious condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Their identities have not yet been revealed.
