The man who died on Tuesday after a fire erupted inside his home in Miami Gardens was identified as Phanor Thomas. The incident occurred at a home near Northwest 33rd Court and 180th Street. Firefighters responded to the single-family home to find heavy smoke and flames coming from it, probably from a bedroom, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
Firefighters removed the barricaded security windows and doors while using hose lines to put out the fires.
Thomas was flown as a trauma alert to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he subsequently passed away, according to officials. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
