St. Tammany Parish Coroner have identified the husband and wife died in an apparent murder-suicide Monday morning as Omar Hyman, 44, and Cheryl Hyman, 41. Deputies from the STPSO were called to a home in the 1500 block of Cherry Ridge Court just before 7:20 a.m. on Monday morning due to a shooting.
After a domestic-related altercation with his wife, the man was shot inside his home, and responding deputies found that he had subsequently escaped to an adjacent property. By calling 911, the neighbor next door made an effort to assist. His wife might still be in their home, according to speculation.
Emergency medical personnel transported the spouse to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
They dispatched STPSO SWAT team members. After failing to locate the wife, they forced entry into the residence. They found the woman deceased when they got there with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
