The 17-year-old fatally shot as he waited for girlfriend near Cypress Lakes HS was identified as Jake Mason. The incident occurred Tuesday morning in the 5800 block of Brenwood Trails Lane in west Harris County.
Mason was with a group of unknown guys waiting to pick up his girlfriend, who is a student at the school, when an altercation broke out, according to the sheriff’s office. One of the unidentified individuals shot Mason during the argument.
Authorities stated many persons were apprehended, but the accused shooter fled on foot. Deputies said it was unclear what caused the gunshot, but they were searching the neighborhood for security footage.
