40-year-old Tamekia Tana Fluker has sadly passed away. Tamekia died following a fatal shooting Tuesday. The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 306 S. Main Avenue. Sylacauga Police were called to the area in reference to the shooting.
Upon arrival, they discovered Tamekia Tana Fluker, 40, who lived there, dead from at least one gunshot wound. Police believe several bullets were fired from the street, and the victim was struck while inside the house. SPD notified the coroner, and Tamekia Fluker was transported to the Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy.
The Sylacauga Police Department is investigating the city’s first homicide of 2024.
According to the police, this is the second murder involving a member of the Fluker family to happen at or close to this home. Nartavius Cortez Fluker-Smith, 22, was shot and killed on July 1, 2022, while he was seated in his car in front of the same house. The demise of Fluker-Smith was declared the first homicide of 2022 in Sylacauga.
