Three people were pronounced dead after a shooting incident in Perth’s western suburbs on Friday afternoon. Multiple law enforcement officers were dispatched to Berkeley Crescent about 4.30pm on Friday after reports someone opened fire inside a home on the street.
The man, who police say was known to the older woman through a “mutual contact”, shot her dead and critically injured the younger woman, before taking his own life.
The younger woman was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, but police said on Saturday morning she had died. The street was cordoned off between Kirkdale Avenue and Linden Gardens as a large number of police remained at the scene.
The man, who attended the Floreat house was looking for his ex-wife, instead murdered home owner Jenny Petelczyc, 59, and Gretl Petelczyc, 18, before turning the gun on himself.
“The incident is contained and there are no ongoing threats to the public,” a police spokeswoman said on Friday night.
