A Minnesota man is accused of killing and dismembering his pregnant sister. Jack Joseph Ball, 23, allegedly killed his 30-year-old sister, Bethany Ann Israel, and then dismembered her body. , Jack is facing charges of second-degree murder with intent and second-degree murder of an unborn child in connection to the death of his sister, Bethany.
The incident occurred May 23 in a house on the 1700 block of Encina Path. Israel’s mother called 911 just after 11 p.m. on May 23, after going to her home and finding a large amount of blood. She told the police that she was supposed to have dinner with her daughter, but when she didn’t show up, she went to her house to check on her. As she arrived, she saw her son leaving the house.
When officers arrived, they found a large pool of blood and a “bloody saw, hatchet, and large, bloody knives” scattered throughout the kitchen and another bloody knife in the living room. They also discovered several dismembered body parts.
The officers also found writings belonging to the Ball in which he expressed anger that his sister was pregnant.
detectives looked for Ball, a Rosemount resident contacted 911 after allegedly seeing a man on their Ring video placing what appeared to be a body part on the front step. Law enforcement arrived to the scene and discovered Ball in the backyard of a nearby home.
He was “covered in blood” and seemed to have a “self-inflicted knife wound across his throat,” according to the allegations. He was taken to Regions Hospital.
According to the criminal complaint, law officers scoured the neighborhood and discovered other body parts, in addition to those located on the 911 caller’s front step.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Israel’s cause of death as “complex homicidal violence,” and her manner of death was homicide. She was between 17 and 18 weeks pregnant when she died, according to court filings.
