Authorities are investigating after a woman died by suicide. According to report, she died Tuesday morning after dropping off a bridge over Route 30 in Manheim Township into traffic. The tragic incident occurred at the New Holland Pike exit, near the Lancaster County Country Club, just before 5:30 a.m
Officers were dispatched to the scene after they received a call that a woman was sitting on the side wall of the bridge above Route 30. By the time police arrived she had fallen into traffic and was struck by multiple vehicles.
The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at 6:49 a.m at the scene. The coroner has not determined the woman’s cause and manner of death and the Lancaster County Forensic Center is investigating.
Eastbound lanes were closed for around two-and-a-half hours. Pennsylvania’s road monitoring website, 511PA, showed traffic was backed up from the exit to the Route 283 West exit just east of the Park City Center.
