Authorities have identified the man who died after being shot by Des Moines police officers Tuesday morning as 45-year-old Weston Dean Derby of Bellevue, Nebraska. The shooting occurred in the 5800 block of SE 35th Circle.

According to report, During the chase Derby turned to face the officers and pulled out a gun, pointing it first at his own head and then at them. Derby was injured by gunfire at that moment, which was exchanged by both policemen. Derby was pronounced dead at the scene.
