Steve Phillips has sadly passed away surrounded by his family and friends. Hanover County Fire-EMS Department shared the news of his passing in a post on Facebook.

passing this afternoon. Steve was surrounded by his family and friends as he left us, and we mourn the loss of a beloved friend and esteemed colleague.
Steve dedicated nearly four decades to serving our community, department, and the Commonwealth of Virginia. His selflessness and commitment were evident in everything he did.
In 2020, Steve was promoted out of Hanover County when he accepted the Deputy Chief position with the Virginia Fire Marshal’s Academy, where he continued to make a lasting impact on our profession and the Commonwealth.”
