Garrett Nichols, BYUH student has sadly passed away. Family and loved ones are devastated at the news of his passing. Garrett reportedly died following a swimming accident. The news of his death was shared in a post on BYU–Hawaii Facebook page.
“It is with heavy hearts we share the news that BYUH student Garrett Nichols has passed away. His parents provided the following message to share with our campus ohana:
“We so appreciate all the prayers for our family. Those who knew Garrett knew what a bright light he was in the world. Garrett knew and loved the Lord and we are so grateful for the peace the gospel of Jesus Christ provides.”
Garrett lived life to the fullest. He loved serving in the temple. He read his scriptures regularly, said his prayers, and was “all-in” on the gospel. He loved Hawaii and finding adventure everywhere he went. He set goals and was determined to reach those goals. He included others and wanted everyone to feel included and involved. He loved being healthy and eating salad! We encourage everyone to #LiveLikeGarrett.”
Garrett was a senior from Atascadero, California, majoring in business management. He was called to the Mexico Tuxtla Gutierrez Mission, served in the Alaska Anchorage Mission for the first half of his mission during COVID, and then completed his mission in Tuxtla. He was a temple ordinance worker in the Laie Hawaii Temple and loved being outdoors.
Our prayers and condolences are with the family of the deceased. We will keep you updated when further information on service and memorial becomes available.
