Charlotte County Deputy Died in Shooting During Traffic Stop
Andrew Mostyn Jr death – A Charlotte County deputy was fatally shot Sunday afternoon, Dec. 15, while conducting a traffic stop at a Chevron gas station in Charlotte County. According to Sheriff Bill Prummell, Corporal Elio Diaz was shot after the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Andrew Mostyn Jr., pulled out a rifle and opened fire.
Diaz, severely wounded, was rushed to a nearby hospital but later died from his injuries. The shooting prompted a massive manhunt, with law enforcement agencies searching the area for the suspect.
Prummell confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and authorities are continuing to piece together the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
