Obituary: Armoni Cantu, 17, Tragically Killed in Shooting on Erie’s West Side
17-year-old Armoni Cantu has sadly passed away. Armoni died after shooting on Erie’s west side Tuesday afternoon. Armoni, a bright and compassionate young man, was struck by gunfire during a senseless act of violence on West 31st and Liberty Streets. Authorities reported the incident at 3:55 p.m., and despite the efforts of those around him, Armoni was pronounced dead at Saint Vincent Hospital at 4:47 p.m.
According to Erie police, Armoni and another teenage boy were shot by individuals in a vehicle, who fired at them as they were on the street. After the shooting, Armoni and the injured second victim were rushed to the hospital in a private vehicle, where medical personnel fought to save his life. Unfortunately, Armoni succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving.
Armoni Cantu, a lifelong resident of Erie, was known for his kind heart, his loyalty to friends and family, and his passion for sports. In the years he spent in his community, Armoni touched the lives of many through his positive energy and love for life. He had a bright future ahead of him, with dreams and aspirations that will never be realized due to this senseless act of violence.
The news of his passing has left his family, friends, and the entire Erie community devastated. Those who knew Armoni remember him as a dedicated son, a loving friend, and a young man full of potential.
