It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Everett Carter, a dedicated member of the Jackson County Public Works team, who died in a fatal accident on Sunday JAN., 2025, near Blue Summit, Missouri. Everett was 61 years old.
On the afternoon of the incident, Everett was working diligently to help clear snow from local roadways, a task he had carried out with professionalism and commitment throughout his career. At approximately 4:20 p.m., a dump truck he was riding in stopped on Ashland Avenue, north of 20th Street, when the vehicle was struck, and Everett lost his life in the collision.
Everett’s career with Jackson County Public Works spanned many years, during which he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and community members alike. He was known for his hard work, dedication, and positive attitude, always putting the needs of others before his own. His contributions to the department and his tireless efforts to keep the roads safe will not be forgotten.
Born and raised in the area, Everett was a beloved figure in his community. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time with his family, working on projects around the home, and attending local events. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew him.
Everett is survived by his loving family, who will miss him dearly. In this difficult time, our hearts go out to his family, friends, and colleagues at Jackson County Public Works.
