It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the tragic passing of Irondale Police Lieutenant Mark Meadows, who died on the morning of January 6, 2025, after being struck by a vehicle while on duty. He was 48 years old.
Lt. Meadows was directing traffic near the Church of the Highlands Irondale campus, following the first day of the “21 Days of Prayer” event, when he was struck by a passing car shortly before 7:00 a.m. Despite the quick response and his transport to Grandview Medical Center, Lt. Meadows succumbed to his injuries.
A dedicated and respected member of the Irondale Police Department, Lt. Meadows served his community with integrity, commitment, and compassion. His career was a testament to his passion for protecting and serving others. He was deeply valued by his colleagues and admired for his leadership and unwavering dedication to his work.
Mark was also a loving husband and father, leaving behind a family who adored him. His passing leaves a void that will be felt by all who knew him. Mark’s commitment to his family, his community, and his police department was unmatched, and he will be remembered for his selflessness, his love for others, and the positive impact he made in the lives of many.
The Irondale Police Department and the entire community are grieving this tremendous loss. Mark Meadows’ legacy will live on in the memories of those he touched through his years of service, his devotion to his family, and the countless lives he influenced.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is conducting an investigation into the incident, and any questions regarding the investigation should be directed to that organization.
