It is with deep sorrow that we report the passing of Bernard Daniels, 69, who lost his life in a devastating house fire early Friday morning, January 16, 2025, at his residence on Retreat Street in Westminster, South Carolina.
Oconee 911 responded to the report of the fire at 2:37 a.m. Firefighters arrived on the scene and, after an extensive search of the home, discovered Bernard Daniels deceased at approximately 4:15 a.m. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Bernard Daniels was a lifelong resident of Westminster, known for his warm personality and his connection to the local community. While details of his life outside of the fire are still being gathered, those who knew him remembered him as a kind and generous individual with a love for his family and friends.
An autopsy has been scheduled for early next week to determine the cause of death, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire.
Bernard is survived by his family, who are mourning the loss of a beloved father, brother, and friend. His passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him, and he will be remembered for the quiet strength and compassion he shared throughout his life.
