STONE MOUNTAIN, GA — Police are investigating a disturbing incident at Stone Mountain Park on Thursday evening, after a man fired a gun at the top of the mountain. Stone Mountain Park Police spokesperson John Bankhead confirmed that several witnesses reported seeing the man fire the weapon six times.
Bankhead stated that the man then crossed a fence, prompting park officers to approach him. During the encounter, the man reportedly asked officers if they were going to shoot him. They said no, and then he shot himself.”
Details surrounding the incident remain under investigation, and authorities have not released further information at this time.
