It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic passing of De’arrius Denard Starks, age 21, who was senselessly taken from us on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. At approximately 10:42 p.m., deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 1417 Rayfield Drive, Midfield, AL, where they discovered De’arrius suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite efforts from Midfield Fire & Rescue, De’arrius was pronounced deceased at the scene.
De’arrius was a young man with so much potential, a beloved son, brother, and friend. His bright spirit, infectious laughter, and love for life touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. While his life was tragically cut short, the impact he had on his community, family, and friends will never be forgotten.
An investigation into the circumstances of this heartbreaking incident is currently ongoing. As we mourn his loss, we kindly ask for respect and privacy for De’arrius’ loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
