It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the tragic passing of Jared Jackson, a beloved and dedicated physical education teacher at Winterset and Lincoln Park elementary schools within the Columbus City Schools district. Jared, who was known for his unwavering passion for encouraging health, wellness, and physical fitness in his students, was tragically killed in an auto accident in Columbus on the evening of February 14, 2025.
Jared’s presence in the schools he served was more than just that of a teacher. He was a mentor, a friend, and a guiding light for many young students, teaching not only the importance of physical activity but also the values of teamwork, perseverance, and respect. His infectious enthusiasm for sports and fitness inspired countless children to believe in their potential, both in the gym and in life.
Jared was known for his kindness, positivity, and dedication. He was always ready with a smile, a word of encouragement, and an open heart. His commitment to his students and his community was unparalleled. Outside of the classroom, Jared was also an active supporter of local events and initiatives, always striving to make a difference in the lives of others.
He is survived by his loving family, friends, colleagues, and the many students whose lives he touched. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the impact he made on the lives of generations of children.
The family requests privacy at this time but invites all who knew Jared to join in a memorial service to celebrate his life and legacy. Arrangements will be shared once finalized.
