It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic passing of Jaelyn Barham-Wooden, a beloved daughter, sister, and friend. Jaelyn, 20, of Dinwiddie, Virginia, was taken from us far too soon on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
At approximately 10:45 p.m., officers responded to a call on the 1300 block of Jennie Scher Road where they found Jaelyn inside an apartment suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save her, Jaelyn succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a local hospital.
Jaelyn was a young woman full of promise, known for her kind heart, bright spirit, and deep love for her family and friends. Her presence in this world was a light to all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by her loved ones.
The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
Jaelyn is survived by her family, whose grief is immeasurable. In this time of mourning, they request privacy and will announce details of memorial services as they become available.
