The Starkville Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday morning at a local motel, involving two individuals, officials confirmed during a livestreamed news briefing.
According to Sgt. Brandon Lovelady, the public information officer for the department, officers responded to a shooting incident around 11:04 a.m. at the Quality Inn located off Highway 12 East.
Lovelady reported that the altercation involved two individuals, both of whom sustained gunshot wounds. One of the victims was later transported to an Urgent Care center for medical treatment.
At this time, the identities of the victims have not been released. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
