It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we share the passing of two incredibly talented and cherished members of the Kansas City bar and art community—Justin Burnell and Simone Mele. Their contributions to both progressivism and hospitality will be felt for generations, leaving a legacy that will never be forgotten.
Justin was a partner at Drastic Measures, where his leadership, passion, and vision shaped the very fabric of our bar scene. His commitment to excellence and his genuine care for others elevated every interaction and every space he touched. Justin’s impact on Kansas City’s bar community is immeasurable, and his presence will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Simone’s artistry and spirit enriched the lives of everyone she encountered. A true visionary, she inspired not only through her craft but through her dedication to fostering an environment of inclusivity, creativity, and connection. Both Justin and Simone embodied what it means to be leaders and caregivers in their respective fields.
