It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ryan Shread, a beloved student at Waltham High School, who reportedly died by suicide. Ryan’s death has left a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, and his memory will forever live on.
Ryan was a kind, funny, determined, strong, and energetic young man. He brought light to every room he entered and was a friend to all. His teammates and friends recall his infectious enthusiasm, saying, “Ryan Shread was not only an athlete but also a straight-A student and a great friend. Ryan loved football from a young age, and people loved to have him around. He was always cheering for his team and will be remembered for his passion for the game. Most importantly, he will be remembered as an incredible human being. He was always the kid who was there for you when you just needed a little extra support.”
Ryan was not just a teammate but a mentor to younger players. He will be remembered for his leadership both on and off the field. His love for his dog, his family, and his passion for football were evident in everything he did. He was the spectacular son, brother, friend, and teammate who brought joy and positivity to everyone around him.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help offset some of the upcoming funeral expenses and other costs for the Shread family as they lay Ryan to rest. Donations can be made to support them during this incredibly difficult time.
Ryan will be deeply missed by his family, friends, teammates, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, strength, and love for life will continue to inspire those who carry his memory.
Rest in peace, Ryan. You will never be forgotten.
