With great sadness, we announce the passing of Brian Vogt, the beloved CEO of Denver Botanic Gardens, who passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy that will forever shape the Gardens and the community he so deeply cared for. Brian served as the CEO of the Gardens since 2007, and under his visionary leadership, it grew into a thriving center for enlightenment, healing, and connection.
Brian’s unwavering passion, dedication, and foresight transformed the Gardens into a place where all could experience the beauty, tranquility, and wonder of nature. His exceptional leadership extended far beyond day-to-day operations—he was a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to all who worked with him and those who enjoyed the Gardens’ offerings. His vision not only enhanced the physical landscape but also fostered an environment of growth and inclusivity that touched the lives of countless individuals.
One of Brian’s proudest achievements was making the Gardens a “garden for all people,” a vision he shared with his close friend and former board chair, Dr. Jandel Allen-Davis. His dream to create a space where everyone, regardless of background, could connect with nature and one another has been realized and will continue to guide the Gardens for years to come.
Brian leaves behind a profound legacy at Denver Botanic Gardens. His contributions were instrumental in shaping its development, ensuring it remains a cherished institution for the community. His work will continue to inspire and influence future generations, and his imprint on the Gardens will help it flourish for many years to come.
Brian is survived by his [family members], colleagues, friends, and the many individuals whose lives were touched by his leadership and vision. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A memorial service to honor Brian’s life and work will be held at a later date.
