It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the 3rd & Ferry Fish Market family announces the sudden passing of Michael “Mozzarella di Michael” Papandrea, former longtime employee and local businessman. Michael passed away peacefully in his sleep, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Michael, known affectionately by many as “Mozzarella di Michael” for his renowned fresh mozzarella-making parties, had a special way of bringing people together. His talents in the kitchen were only surpassed by his larger-than-life personality and the warmth he radiated. For those lucky enough to experience one of his mozzarella-making gatherings, it was clear that Michael’s heart and spirit were as fresh and inviting as the mozzarella he crafted.

He was deeply loved by the 3rd & Ferry Fish Market family, where he formed lasting relationships with many of our staff members, who considered him not only a colleague but a true friend. Michael’s bond with our team and his tight connection to his family, who are dear friends of ours, made him an integral part of our extended family.

Michael’s absence will leave a profound void in our lives. His infectious smile, generous heart, and unwavering spirit of friendship and community will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of bringing joy and connection through food and friendship will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to share in his world.

The family has requested privacy during this time of mourning. In honor of Michael, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. We encourage all who knew him to raise a glass in his memory and carry forward his joy for life, family, and good food.

Michael’s presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain with us. Rest in peace, Michael, and thank you for leaving us with so many fond memories.
