It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Baker, a former wrestler and dedicated coach in the Whitman-Hanson Youth Wrestling program. David’s loss leaves a void in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

David had an uplifting personality that could brighten any room. His sense of humor was contagious, and his infectious laugh was a signature trait that will forever be remembered by friends, family, and colleagues alike. He had the rare ability to make people believe in magic again, even convincing them that Santa Claus was real with his genuine kindness and charm.

A man of selflessness and generosity, David’s legacy is marked by his extraordinary act of love for his family. He gave the ultimate gift, donating a kidney to his famous uncle, Lenny Baker—a beloved Whitman-Hanson graduate and saxophonist for Sha Na Na. This gesture of kindness reflected David’s nature: always willing to help others, often at his own expense.

David will be deeply missed by all who knew him—his family, friends, teammates, and the many wrestlers he mentored. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have shared in his warmth, humor, and generosity.

Rest in peace, David. Your spirit will never be forgotten.
