James Littlejohn, 39, of Flint, tragically lost his life in the early hours of Saturday, following a senseless act of violence. He passed away at a local hospital after being found unresponsive on the roadside near SH 155 S. and Oakridge Drive.
James was a beloved son, friend, and community member known for his kind heart, infectious laugh, and a willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. His sudden passing has left a deep void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
According to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, James was picked up in the Lakeway Harbor subdivision by a female driver, accompanied by a male passenger in the backseat, later identified as 55-year-old John Floyd McDaniel. During the ride, McDaniel allegedly attempted to rob James and shot him, resulting in his death. Authorities confirmed McDaniel has since been arrested in connection with the crime.
James is survived by his family, friends, and a community that will never forget his generosity, strength, and spirit. A memorial service will be announced in the coming days.
