Dallas, TX – April 16, 2025 — A 17-year-old has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with a mass shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon at Wilmer-Hutchins High School, leaving four students injured and prompting a swift law enforcement response.

The suspect, identified as Tracy Haynes, turned himself in Tuesday evening and was booked into Dallas County jail at 9:32 p.m. His bail has been set at $600,000. As of Wednesday morning, it remains unclear whether Haynes has legal representation.

The arrest followed a chaotic afternoon at Wilmer-Hutchins High School, where shots were fired on campus, sending students and faculty into lockdown. According to authorities, four students sustained injuries during the incident. Their conditions have not been publicly released.

Police have not yet disclosed a possible motive or details about how the weapon was obtained. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.
