HAVRE, MT – Authorities have identified 35-year-old Dixie Schroeder as the victim in a tragic homicide discovered earlier this week in Havre.
On May 7, the Havre Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a deceased female in the 300 block of 14th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the presence of a deceased woman and launched a full investigation in collaboration with the Hill County Sheriff’s Office and the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation.
Dixie Schroeder, described by those who knew her as a kind and vibrant individual, leaves behind a community deeply shocked and saddened by her untimely death.
A suspect, who had been identified as a person of interest during the investigation, was located in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Authorities report that the individual was found in possession of the victim’s vehicle and was subsequently arrested by law enforcement in Idaho.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet released further details regarding charges or the identity of the suspect.
Dixie’s family, friends, and the entire Havre community are mourning the loss of a woman taken far too soon. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later time.
