Pembroke, NH – [May 9, 2025] — A tragic incident has claimed the lives of a young mother and her 3-year-old son in what authorities are investigating as murder-suicide in Pembroke, New Hampshire.
Police were called to a residence on Friday at approximately 1 a.m., where they discovered 26-year-old Julia Byrne and her son, Blake Byrne, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the head. Julia Byrne was pronounced dead at the scene, while her son was rushed to Concord Hospital. Despite medical efforts, Blake Byrne was later pronounced dead.
The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office confirmed the deaths and stated that an investigation is actively underway. While the circumstances remain under review, officials said there does not appear to be any threat to the general public at this time.
Julia and Blake Byrne are being remembered by those who knew them as a devoted mother and a joyful child whose lives were tragically cut short. Community members have begun placing flowers and messages of condolence outside the residence as the town mourns this heartbreaking loss.
