Gabriella Velazquez, The Allentown Central Catholic sophomore has sadly passed away. The Allentown Central Catholic community  announced her sudden passing on Friday July 12, 2024.

St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley shared on Facebook – “The Allentown Central Catholic community is sad to announce the sudden passing of rising sophomore Gabriella Velazquez. As a parish community we raise up in pray Gabby, and all her family and friends during this most difficult time.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her! May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.”

Gabriella Velazquez’s cause of death is yet to be officially announced as at this time. Details regarding the cause of her death will be disclosed when it becomes available.

Authorities are investigating after a man was injured following shooting in Tompkins Square Park on Friday morning. The shooting occurred on East 7th Street just after 9:50 a.m.

According to report, the man was shot at the southwest corner of the park, near the chess area. The suspect was described a, 5’6″ tall man, wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans and mask.

Authorities are investigating after they received report of an unconfirmed shooting near Hoggard High School. Hoggard High School is currently on lockdown as a precautionary measure

A message for John T. Hoggard High School families reads:
“Hoggard High School is currently on lockdown as a precautionary measure after someone off campus reported the sound of gunfire in the area.
Law enforcement is currently conducting a thorough sweep of the entire campus before dismissal will take place.
We apologize for the inconvenience while we ensure the safety of students and staff. We will update you as soon as the lockdown is lifted.”

Investigators are working to determine exactly what happened.

One person has dead and another injured after shooting on the northeast side of Colorado Springs Wednesday evening. According to police, they were called out just before 5 p.m. to High Meadows Park on reports of a shooting.

The incident occurred near Springs Ranch Elementary, in the area of Peterson Road and North Carefree Circle. Police were able to confirm that the incident did not occur at the school.

The victims have been transported to the hospital. Police said in an update to the media at 6:45 p.m. that that seriously injured person had since died. At that time, a suspect was not in custody.
